Gloria was known for her boundless generosity and her ability to light up any room she entered. Her life was a tapestry of cherished memories stitched together with the threads of friendship and family bonds that adorned her surroundings. As a devoted companion and friend, she nurtured relationships with gentle grace, offering a smile and a listening ear to those fortunate enough to know her.
Her soul found solace in the rhythm of life’s simple joys, from sunlit mornings to cozy evenings shared with loved ones. Gloria’s laughter was infectious; each note lingered long after it left her lips, leaving an imprint on the hearts of her companions. A funeral service to honor her vibrant journey will take place on December 20, 2025, at St. Francis Baptist Temple, located at 1610 Angelique Street, Saint Joseph, Missouri, starting at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are welcomed to gather and celebrate the beautiful life of Gloria G. Johnson, sharing stories and remembering the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
Gloria Gene Johnson, 80, was called into eternity surrounded by her family in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born in Attalia, Alabama, she received her formal education there before moving to St. Joseph, where she developed her craft as a surgical nurse and later as a clinician at the former Methodist Medical Center. She was married to James Johnson, to this union LaMarkus was born along with Berniece Lang and Eileen Johnson. Gloria later married the late JP Taylor. Known for her fun-loving, carefree spirit, she was an avid bowler and fisherwoman. Gloria accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Clay and Della Mae Mostella, siblings Charles Edward, Samuel Lewis, and Rickie Carl Clay.
She leaves to celebrate her Home Going her children LaMarkus Johnson and Berniece Lang, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
