On January 1, 2025, the world lost a truly remarkable man, Harold Leon Williams. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the many ways in which he touched the lives of those around him. Harold's unwavering faith, his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his infectious joy were the hallmarks of his life.
Harold was born on June 18, 1959, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Hartley Osley and Charmain Williams. From his early years, it was clear that Harold possessed a deep love for music, ministry, and the people in his life. A lifelong member of St. Francis Baptist Temple, Harold dedicated many years of service as church secretary and as the choir director for both the adult and children's choirs. His voice, always full of passion and praise, will forever echo in the hearts of those who sang beside him. Now, we can only imagine Harold, singing and walking with the Lord in heaven, as he did here on earth.
Harold's commitment to others extended beyond the walls of the church. He worked diligently for EOC, Choices of St. Joseph, and the State of Missouri, where he retired in 2024 after 28 years of service. His dedication to his work was a testament to his strong character and desire to serve others.
A man of impeccable style, Harold's presence was always a sight to behold. He had a personality that would light up any room, and his smile was a beacon of warmth and kindness. His love for the Kansas City Chiefs was legendary—no one could match his enthusiasm or knowledge about the team.
While Harold's life was filled with accomplishments and passions, it was his love for family and friends that defined him most. He was a loyal brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Whether near or far, Harold's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He would do anything for those he loved, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Williams, Sr., and his sisters, Paula Dial and Linda Williams. He is survived by his sisters, Constance Thaxton, Charlene Barnes, Nylanda Davis, Mildred Hopkins, his brothers, Richard Williams, Sr. and Walter Williams, sister in law Jacqueline Williams, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
As we remember Harold's life, we take comfort in knowing that he has gone home to be with the Lord. He is singing in heaven, surrounded by peace, love, and joy. Though he is no longer with us in person, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
We will always remember Harold for his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
