James Edward Dodd was called into eternity on February 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 19, 1932, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Edward and Lillian Dodd. James graduated from Bartlett High School and later proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he began his career with Light & Power Company, where he worked faithfully for 37 years before retiring. On September 4, 1960, James was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth Matthews, who survives him at their home. James was a devoted and faithful member of St. Francis Baptist Temple, where he served diligently in several ministries. His service included the Usher Board, Trustee Board, Open-Door Kitchen, and the Male Chorus. His commitment to his church and his faith was evident  throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian Dodd, and his son-in-law Min. Julius A. Goodwin Jr and his granddaughter, Audrey Dodd-Williams and her husband Charlie Williams III. James leaves to cherish his memory of his loving wife, Frances Elizabeth Dodd; daughter, Kathy Goodwin; grandson, James E. D. Goodwin (Merlynne); granddaughter, Khaleah; grandsons, Malik and Marlon; brother, Marvin Dodd; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Baptist Temple, 1610 Angelique. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
