Jessie A. Sykes, a devoted Christian and loving family member, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 6, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on February 13, 1974, in Burlington Hills, Michigan, to Clifford A. Sykes and M.L. Deretha Sykes (Hicks), Jessie spent most of his life in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Jessie attended Benton High School and was an active member of Holsey Chapel ICM, where he sang in the choir. He had a passion for music, singing, and WWE wrestling. Jessie also enjoyed bowling, thrift shopping, and collecting CDs and horror movies.
Jessie is survived by his parents; sisters, Amani M. Sykes and Psisha R. Sykes; brother, Chezaray L. Hicks-Jackson Sr. (Jaci); step-father, Stephen P. Spurr; step-brother, Kevin L. Spurr; step-sister, Kelley L. Stewart; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Preceding Jessie in death were his maternal grandparents, Moses L. and Mary Margaret Hicks Sr.; paternal grandparents, Pen and Ruby White Sr.; uncles, Richard and Melvin Sykes, and Pen White Jr.; aunt, Lois Sykes Finney; and twin cousins.
Jessie's family and friends will deeply miss him, but they take comfort in knowing he is now at peace with his Heavenly Father.
