Obituary

Ronald Gene Sawyer was born on November 6, 1950 in Trenton, Missouri to Donald Lee Sawyer and Margaret Jane (Cooksey) Sawyer, the fourth of eight children. Upon graduating from Benton High School in 1969, Mr. Sawyer enlisted in the US Army serving in the 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One, with deployment in South Korea. Later Mr. Sawyer served in the 189th Ord Co of the US Army Reserves, with active deployment during Operation Desert Storm, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7) during 20 years of service. In 1971 Mr. Sawyer married Linda Diane Marshall of St. Joseph, Missouri. The couple celebrated the birth of two sons, Chad Eugene and Trevor Tyler. Mr. Sawyer was a heavy equipment /diesel engine mechanic for 46 years. Ronald Gene Sawyer passed away on July 01, 2026 in the loving embrace of his wife and family after a 20 month journey with cancer. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Margaret Sawyer, brother Denver Sawyer, sister Janice Sawyer, and brother Arthur Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer's memory continues through his loving wife of 55 years Linda Sawyer, son Chad Sawyer(Jamie Davis), son Trevor (Kara) Sawyer, grandson Cooper Sawyer (Erika), great-grandson Ronin Sawyer, sister Barbara (John) Tillery, sister-in-law Stephanie Sawyer, sister-in-law Debbie (Charles) Cook, brother Norman(Shelly) Sawyer, brother Hugh (Brenda) Sawyer, brother Keith(Debbie)Sawyer, and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to express their gratitude to the hospice staff at Mosiac Life Care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
