Wanda was the sixth child born to Pinkerton Brown and Roberta McClellan Brown. She was born in

Foreman, Arkansas on December 30, 1942, and later the family relocated to Kansas City. Wanda

attended and graduated from Argentine High School, Class of 1963 and was later employed in numerous

roles through the years, including nursing assistant, School Bus Driver, Student Companion at School for

the Blind and Family Attendant at Thatcher Funeral Home

Wanda met and married Nathaniel Adams, Jr February 02, 1964. To their union they raised two

handsome sons which they loved and doted over.

Wanda professed her belief in Christ and was baptized at an early age, where she and her family joined

the Second Baptist Church-Argentine under Dr. Roy A. Reed. In 1985, Wanda and her family joined the

New Fellowship Church family, where she served faithfully until the very end. She was dedicated to

Christ and the building of His Kingdom. Serving as Usher, Youth Leader, Minister of Music, Prayer

Intercessor, Missions and Worship Leader in her local church, district and on the state level.

Wanda defined Servant Leadership through a Christ-centered approach rooted in the example of Jesus,

whose intent was “not to be served but to serve.” She led with humility and selflessness, viewing

leadership as a stewardship rather than a position of power; she was willing to let others increase while

she decreased. Wanda was deeply focused on people, intentionally investing in the growth,

development, and well-being of those she led, while keeping the mission at the forefront rather than

simply striving to please. She understood her purpose, had integrity, and strong character. She was

honest, and empathetic, and a faithful steward of her talents, time and material possessions. Not to

mentioned her extraordinary voice—she was a strong contralto vocalist and an original member of the

“Reed Singers”, lending her gift(s) to worship and lifting up the name of Jesus.

Above all else, she was best known as a caregiver. She quietly and selflessly cared for others through

physical and mental health challenges, tending to the needs of her father, mother, and three brothers.

Most recently, she walked faithfully through a two-year journey alongside her only sister, Onie Jean,

until her transition. Beyond her family, she extended that same compassion to anyone in need, always

ready to help with a caring heart.

On Monday, February 2, Wanda went from labor to reward. She joined her parents and 7 of her siblings

in heavenly rest. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Wanda will be

greatly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Nathaniel of 62 years, their two sons, Troy Adams

(Cecily), Peter Adams (LaToya), one brother; Donald Brown (Michelle) of Las Vegas, NV; Sister-in-Love

Sharon Brown of Houston, TX. Five grandchildren; Timothy Adams, Amber Adams, Yazmin Adams,

Roman Adams, and Jaida Henderson, all of Kansas City. Two great-grandchildren, Layla Frazier,

Timirance Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family, coworkers and fellow
